Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the virtues of family football scholarships and community service. He was the youngest son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. In football, he was with his three brothers from Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the top lineman in America. He was awarded two championships as well as 31-1-1 during his three years as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week of volunteer time in college. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing with the Buccaneers. There were three times he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being among the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when he played college football. In 1975, he was on the team. squad. In 1993, Roy joined at the University of South Florida's sports department as its Director of Athletics as an associate. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized his as a member in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
